All animals have a natural ability to gracefully run and jump with easeful efficiency, notably, 10,000 lbs elephants, 1000 lb horses, or 200 lb cats. A tensegrity of posture is created in the balanced form of animals in which the bones of the body are suspended within a matrix of uniformly toned myofascia. When this occurs, graceful power is fully engaged and available.
The Bowspring postural method uses principles of tensegrity—a balance between tension and compression forces of the skeleton and the myofascia—to teach students of any age how to align their body-minds while sitting, standing, or practicing any level of yoga for an optimal posture.
Bowspring’s optimal posture template is viewed as a bow-spring shape that is universal for torsos and spines, across a wide span of ages and cultural diversity. This universal bow shape is spring-loaded along the entire back of the body (the posterior chain of myofascia) to provide for fluid, tensile strength, precise balance, and rooted lightness in any pose or activity. When the posterior chain of myofasica is evenly toned, graceful power becomes available to us.
All the yoga poses or postural exercises practiced in Bowspring are all interconnected variations on the optimal template, so the directional actions and curvature of the myofascia are consistent in all postures, making good posture accessible as a life practice for people around the world.
At a cellular level, the entire connective tissue sheath of the human body becomes renewed every 6 months. With each class and every practice Bowspring students are able to evaluate and note their progress and increasing proficiency to mindfully align and integrate the entire back of the body-mind into a new bow-spring template.
With a balanced tonus throughout a bow-spring optimal alignment, a healthy pulsation of the neuro-glandular system is gained, which bolsters the immune system and revitalizes all hormonal function, positively affecting our moods, emotions, and mindset.
