In an esoteric definition, a mudra is the conscious form of the body-mind. A students makes a mudra or purposeful posture by mindfully placing every part of the body into a specific position in space and in geometric relationship with all other parts to create harmony and beauty of the body-mind. The student chooses and consciously knows the specific form and placement of his/her toes and feet, fingertips and hands, head and spine in any basic form of standing, walking, kneeling, and sitting. When the intention of the student is set towards expansion of consciousness within their own body-mind, then conscious posturing becomes a positive impression in the field of space-time. The vibrating form of a conscious posture, which reflects the intention to embody beauty and harmony in the highest, positively effects not only the individual, but also ripples into the collective field of the planet.
The repeated conscious patterns of daily postural forms (katas) become the disciplined gateways to train the body-mind to be balanced and harmonious in any situation. Regularly creating postural mudras of positive intention imprints the body-mind with default patterns which become dominant even under stressful and painful circumstances. Mudras impress the energetic field of space-time with patterns of consciousness which can help bring more love and life-enhancing creativity in the world. Therefore, in Sridaiva we use spiritually purposeful posturing (mudra) as a fundamental practice of our lives.
