As a long-time student of yoga I will always endeavour to grow and develop in my character and in my body and mind every day. If I don’t assume ultimacy in my yoga practice, then I will be ever inspired to explore and test new ideas for expanding health.
If I find the new ideas and paradigm-shifting principles to be a positive development in my life and in others’ lives, then I will use them.
There are times in the role of the teacher when you realize that some things, which you had been teaching as gospel to the students for an extended period, are not only not helpful, but even harmful. An elevated response from the teacher is to share the new understanding, humbly express the original intention of not harming, and then present more helpful guidance in the days to come. From our direct experience, even when we are falling, we learn the most.
